Ugly thing that popped up on my face – Acne? What, Why and How

Wait! Wait! Let me tell you what ugly thing popped up on my face. Yes, it was a pimple shining on my forehead. It was another shock of my life? It was not there when I saw my face in the mirror. It was looking horrible and I wished it would go away. When I browse sites and read articles, I faced one common word “ACNE”. I started looking for answers to my questions. My basic questions were;

What is Acne? Why is Acne? How is Acne?

There are many articles written on Acne Skin Care. Many of them talks about symptoms, causes, treatment and products. You will just move around in a loop. Today, I just share with you a basic introduction which will help you to understand Acne. Once you understand then it will be easy to get rid of Acne or get Acne treatment.

1. What is acne: Simple, the ugly pimple that appeared on my forehead is also known as Acne. According to U.S. National Library of Medicine “Acne is a skin condition that causes whiteheads, blackheads, and inflamed red growths (papules, pustules, and cysts) to form. These growths are commonly called pimples or “zits.” Skin oil and dirt block the pores of skin which later explode through our skin in shape of pimples.

It normally occurs during the adolescent phase. We can say during their teen age. Some they even don’t get Acne but some they get all over their faces. There is misconception that only girls get Acne. No, I have seen boys facing the same problem. Acne could last from days to months or even years. By the passage of time, some get their skin repaired naturally and you cannot find any sign of acne in their faces but for some it leave acne scars.

2. Why Acne: While I was reading, I was shocked when I read one of the analysis where they say “three out of four teenagers have some acne”. But I have seen people in their 30s and 40s have acne. Acne tends to run in families. There are many factors that can cause acne i.e.;

In girls, hormonal changes related to menstrual periods Pregnancy or birth control pills Stress Oily or greasy skin care products Hair products Steroids, Testosterone, Estrogen etc.More Humidity and Sweating Bad Eating habits Intake of Oily foods regularly

As I said Acne is a problem of swelling and inflammation not a problem caused by bacteria. There are many types of acne. Acne Vulgaris is the most common acne. It is basically eruptions in our skin due to dirt and other particles settling in. if the acne is very severe, and looks like a big boil, it could be a cyst, in which case one needs to be careful and not touch it too much. If they do, it might erupt, ooze with puss and not be a pretty sight.

3. How Acne: Sometimes acne becomes one of our big problems and young ones start thinking of jumping there schools because they do not want to face their friends. As I mentioned above, for some girls, hormonal changes in their body leads to acne and for this there is no cure but to let nature takes it course. It is the reaction of our body against the changes happening inside. Therefore no need for panic. But we can reduce or even avoid acne by applying some nice habits;

Avoid bad eating habits Stay calm. No stress Less intake of oily foods on a regular basis Acne or pimples occur when the follicle are blocked and does not get enough oxygen. If we touch acne effected part or pimple and then touches our fingers to un-effected part of the face then there are more chances of spread. So, it is better to control yourself.Wash your face multiple times during the day.In the market, there are various products that claim to make the acne go away in a day or two. Some are fine and most of them are just scams.

Always use oil free products and try to buy from the reliable source.

Tip: Don’t see your acne face all the time in mirror if you don’t have confidence on yourself. It will just create panic and some sort of inferiority complex.
